Vision and Values

Our Christian Vision and Ethos

Together, we love, learn and grow with God

At Walesby C of E Primary, everything we do is rooted in God’s love. We are a small, nurturing village school where every child is known, valued and included as a unique child of God, deserving of dignity, love and respect.

We want every child to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually as confident, kind and thoughtful individuals. We aim to help children experience “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10) and to “shine their light in the world” (Matthew 5:14–16).

In simple terms: we help children grow into happy, confident people who care about others and the world around them, knowing they are valued and able to make a positive difference.

Our Values: The Walesby Way

Our Christian values guide everything we do, every day, and shape “The Walesby Way”.

We are R.I.C.H.:

Respect – we value everyone and treat others with dignity and kindness

Resilience – we keep going when things are difficult and learn from challenges

Integrity – we do the right thing, even when no one is watching

Courage – we are brave, try new things and use our voice positively

Honesty and Hope – we are truthful, positive and believe in ourselves and others

Alongside love, friendship and kindness, these values shape how we learn, behave and support one another.  We believe every member of our community should be treated with dignity, compassion and respect. Our values can be seen in our classrooms, playground, worship and relationships across school.

Spiritual Development

At Walesby, we care deeply about children’s spiritual development and helping them grow as whole individuals.

We understand spirituality as:

Learning about ourselves

Building positive relationships with others

Exploring the world with curiosity, reflection and wonder

Developing an understanding of God and faith

Asking big questions about life, meaning and purpose

We intentionally create opportunities for:

Reflection, prayer and quiet thinking

Asking and exploring big questions

Creativity through art, music and storytelling

Experiencing awe and wonder, especially in nature

Outdoor learning and developing Woodland Worship

Moments of stillness, gratitude and reflection

In everyday terms: we give children time and space to think, reflect and make sense of the world around them.

What This Looks Like at Walesby C of E Primary School

When you visit our school, you will see:

Children confidently asking questions and sharing ideas

Calm moments for reflection, prayer and stillness

A rich curriculum including books, art, music and discussion

Outdoor learning and developing Woodland Worship

Strong, caring relationships between staff and pupils

Children showing kindness, empathy and respect

A real sense of belonging and community

Our school feels calm, welcoming and purposeful. It is a place where children feel safe, valued and supported to be themselves.

Religious Education (RE)

RE is an important and valued part of our curriculum and has a high profile within school life.

Through RE, children:

Explore Christianity alongside different beliefs and worldviews

Ask big questions about life and meaning

Develop respect, understanding and empathy for others

Reflect on their own ideas, beliefs and values

Learn how faith can shape people’s lives and communities

RE helps children become thoughtful, open-minded and respectful individuals who are prepared for life in a diverse world.

Collective Worship

Collective worship is a special and valued part of our school day where we come together as a community.

It provides opportunities for:

Reflection and stillness

Prayer and shared experiences

Exploring our Christian values and Bible teachings

Spiritual growth and personal reflection

Celebrating achievements and belonging

Feeling part of something bigger than ourselves

Our worship is invitational, inclusive and meaningful for all members of our school community.

We are also developing Woodland Worship, where children can experience spirituality through nature and the outdoors.

Living Our Vision

Our vision is not just words, it is lived out every day through relationships, learning and the way we care for one another.

Through The Walesby Way, our children:

Feel a strong sense of belonging

Know they are loved, valued and cared for

Develop confidence, resilience and independence

Show kindness, courage and respect

Grow academically, socially and spiritually

Learn to use their voice and actions positively

We encourage children to become courageous advocates who care about their communities and the wider world. Through acts of kindness, service, leadership and environmental awareness, children learn that they can make a positive difference.

Every child matters at Walesby and every child is supported to flourish and succeed.

The Impact

Because of our Christian vision and values:

Children are confident, happy and motivated learners

They are kind, respectful and thoughtful individuals

They ask questions, think deeply and show curiosity

They feel safe, valued and included

They develop resilience, empathy and positive wellbeing

They are well prepared for the next stage of their education and lives

Our children leave Walesby as well-rounded individuals who are ready to shine their light in the world and make a positive difference to others.
