Vision and Values

Every child is known

Every child is valued

Every child is included

Our Christian Vision

Together, we love, learn and grow with God

At Walesby Church of England Primary School, everything we do is rooted in God's love. We are a small, nurturing village school where every child is known, valued and included as a unique child of God, deserving of dignity, love and respect.

Guided by our Christian vision, we are committed to enabling every child to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Inspired by Jesus' promise that all may have life in all its fullness (John 10:10), we nurture children to become confident, compassionate and resilient individuals who fulfil their God-given potential, recognise their unique gifts and are encouraged to use them with confidence and compassion, letting their light shine before others (Matthew 5:16).

In simple terms, we help children grow into happy, confident young people who care for others, value themselves and understand that they can make a positive difference in the world.

The Walesby Way

At Walesby, kindness is more than an expectation; it is the foundation of our relationships and the way we care for one another every day.

The Walesby Way is how we choose to live, learn and grow together every day.

It is built upon four simple principles that help create a caring, respectful and inclusive school community where everyone belongs and every child is able to flourish.

🤲 Kind Hands

We care for one another and show kindness through our actions.

💬 Kind Words

We speak with honesty, encouragement and respect.

👣 Kind Feet

We move safely, make positive choices and help everyone feel secure.

Kind Hearts

We show compassion, forgiveness and understanding, recognising the value of every person.

Together, these simple principles help create a culture where every child is known, valued and included, enabling them to flourish and confidently let their light shine.

Our R.I.C.H. Values

Our Christian values guide every aspect of school life and help shape the character of our children.

Respect

We value everyone and treat others with dignity and kindness.

Resilience

We keep going when things are difficult and learn from challenges

Integrity

We do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Courage

We are brave, embrace new challenges and use our voices positively.

Honesty and Hope

We believe in ourselves, one another and the future God has planned for us.

Supported by the qualities of Love, Friendship and Kindness, these values shape our relationships, our learning and the way we care for one another every day. They are not simply displayed on our walls; they are lived through our words, our actions and our commitment to serving others.

We believe every member of our community should be treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

Living Our Vision

Our Christian vision is more than a statement; it shapes every decision we make, every relationship we build and every opportunity we create for our children.

Through high aspirations, positive relationships and an ambitious curriculum, we create opportunities for every child to flourish by:

  • developing confidence and resilience;
  • showing kindness, compassion and respect;
  • asking questions and thinking deeply;
  • celebrating diversity and valuing others;
  • becoming courageous advocates who care for their communities and the wider world;
  • discovering and developung their unique gifts and talents.

Spiritual Development

At Walesby, we believe that education nurtures the whole child.

We provide opportunities for children to reflect, ask big questions, experience awe and wonder, develop their understanding of themselves and others, and deepen their understanding of God and faith.

Children's spiritual development is woven throughout school life through:

  • Collective Worship;
  • Religious Education;
  • Woodland Worship;
  • outdoor learning;
  • moments of reflection and prayer;
  • creativity through art, music and storytelling;
  • opportunities to explore life's big questions.

These experiences help children grow in wisdom, confidence, compassion and hope.

Religious Education

Religious Education is a valued and important part of our curriculum.

Through the study of Christianity alongside a range of other faiths and worldviews, children develop knowledge, understanding and respect for the diverse world in which they live.

RE encourages children to ask thoughtful questions, reflect on their own beliefs and values, and appreciate the ways faith influences individuals, communities and society.

Collective Worship

Collective Worship is a special part of each school day, bringing our community together to reflect, pray, celebrate and grow in faith.

Our worship is invitational, inclusive and meaningful for everyone.

Through Bible stories, prayer, music, reflection and shared experiences, children develop an understanding of our Christian values and are encouraged to consider how these can shape their own lives.

As part of our continuing journey, we are also developing Woodland Worship, where children encounter God through creation, experiencing awe, wonder, reflection and gratitude within the natural world.

Our Promise

At Walesby Church of England Primary School, we believe every child is a unique child of God.

This belief shapes everything we do and underpins our Christian vision, our values and our commitment to inclusion.

We promise that every child will be:

❤️ Known recognised, understood and celebrated as an individual.

💛 Valued treated with dignity, kindness and respect.

💚 Included welcomed, supported and encouraged to participate fully in every aspect of school life.

🌿 Enabled to Flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually through an ambitious and inclusive education.

Encouraged to Shine Their Light using their unique gifts to make a positive difference within school, the local community and the wider world.

The Impact

Because our Christian vision shapes every aspect of school life, our children leave Walesby as confident, compassionate and resilient young people who:

  • know they are loved, valued and respected;
  • enjoy learning and achieve their full potential;
  • demonstrate kindness, courage and integrity;
  • embrace challenge with resilience and hope;
  • respect people of all faiths, backgrounds and beliefs;
  • contribute positively to their communities; and
  • are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for life beyond primary school.

As Jesus reminds us:

"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

This is the Walesby Way.

Together, we love, learn and grow with God
